About Barcode1 Australia

Who we are

Barcode1 Australia is an authorised member of the International Barcodes Network, founded in 2006, working directly in over 120 countries and serving customers in more than 160 countries worldwide. We’re a dedicated team, operated by International Barcodes Ltd, supplying genuine retail barcodes to Australian and international businesses since 2007.

We supply retail barcodes, ITF-14 carton barcodes and QR codes to businesses anywhere in the world: a one-off price, no annual fees, and the numbers are yours permanently.

Our customers range from Australian sole traders packing their first product to established international brands, across food, beverage, cosmetics, publishing, fashion and everything in between.

David Allis – Director. David runs the business and still answers customer emails himself, often late at night and early in the morning, which is why replies sometimes arrive at odd hours.

Andrea Smith – Customer Advisor. Andrea handles customer questions, orders, registrations and custom requests. If you’ve dealt with us, you’ve probably dealt with Andrea.

Amelia Allis – Customer Advisor. Amelia covers customer emails and order support, so there’s usually someone available to pick things up.

When you email Barcode1 Australia, one of us reads it, and one of us replies. Nobody’s routed to a call centre, and nobody’s reading from a script.

Where we are, and why it doesn’t matter

Our head office is in Auckland, New Zealand. Most of our customers aren’t, so it’s worth explaining why that works.

Barcode numbers aren’t country-specific. A number issued to a business in Australia, Germany, or the United States is drawn from the same international system, and the retail scanners reading it don’t know or care where it was purchased. What matters is that the number is globally unique, legitimate, and registered to you.

Alongside the head office, the International Barcodes Network runs local partner offices in markets around the world, staffed by people who know their own retail environment. For Australia, Barcode1 Australia provides local Australian support, Australian invoicing, and expert advice for the Australian retail market.

The practical upside of our timezone: an email sent at the end of your day or morning usually has a swift reply waiting.

What we believe about barcodes

Most of our customers are buying a barcode for the first time, and the industry doesn’t make that easy. We’d rather explain than upsell. If you don’t need something, we’ll say so. If your product needs something we don’t sell, we’ll point you to whoever does.

That’s why there’s a free guide on this site, why every barcode comes with both EAN-13 and UPC-A versions rather than forcing you to choose, and why registration in the International Barcodes Database is included rather than charged for. Registration also makes your product easier to find online and makes it harder for anyone else to claim your numbers.

Buying a large or unusual order? Email us, and we’ll quote you directly.
